Presenters: Eileen McMahon and Cheryl Reicin, Torys LLP (Toronto, New York)

- How, why and when to protect your idea.
- How to commercialize your idea-what are the options?
- Examples of ideas successfully commercialized (physicians, researchers, hospitals, etc.)
Takeaways: In this workshop, you will learn:
- How does an “idea” differ from an “invention”?
- What is patentable?
- Why are patents valuable?
- What are the different options for commercializing an invention?
- What legal steps do I need to take with my co-inventors (incorporation? shareholders agreement? assignments? confidentiality agreements?)
